Working on digital painting / material rendering. Been super into vikings lately, because they’re awesome. Staying busy animating for a little indie game and doing more illustrations for the CLTCEC. This summer I’ll be taking Story Dev for Animation with Tron Mai at Concept Design Academy! Really stoked to keep working on my boards, which you can check out at http://stungboards.blogspot.com

Back working at Digital Domain which is keeping me crazy busy! Trying to make some time on the side for drawing/painting/freelance though — here’s a peek at what I’ve been working on both for personal fun projects and freelance.
This map is for an upcoming tabletop RPG we’re going to play called Dead Lands. Our GM drew a map with magic markers and I painted up a polished version in Photoshop. It’s a weird west themed game — really excited to get started.
Round 1: These are some character design concepts for an indie video game project I’m working on. The main guy needed to read as both cyberpunk and martial arts.
Round 2: I arrived at this design after incorporating notes from the round 1 images.
Round 3: This is the final version approved by the client, based on notes from the round 2 version.
I have been playing Sword and Sworcery and it’s totally awesome. There’s a lot of cool Scythian fan art and I wanted to try my hand at her — something that is really cool about pixel art is that it requires interpretation on the part of the viewer, and it’s cool to see all of the different interpretations of her costume. Mine is pretty straightforward I guess, but I’m happy with some of the texture of the paint and how her face came out.
Still on the job hunt! I had a gig for a while illustrating a medical textbook for the California Long-Term Care Education Center which has since wrapped. I’m taking Jay Oliva‘s storyboarding class at CDA which has been pretty great so far. Still working on Monstersitter and Titanium Star as time allows!
I have been working on my digital painting! Also, I have a tumblr now, which you can check out at http://samtung.tumblr.com. Also I’m on the job hunt — preferably art related but if you know of anything I am all ears.
Thanks for looking!
Promo pages with concept art for Titanium Star, which I’ll be doing with Victor Gischler for GrayHaven Comics. Keep your eyes peeled for it in the spring! These will run as print teasers in GrayHaven’s 11:59 which should be available in the next month or two.
Other recent GrayHaven comics that include my art are Tales from the Abyss #1, Western, and Adventure. I also did the character design for Arthur, the main character in Adventure. Get ’em while they last!
In other news, here’s another piece of concept art I did for The Adventures of Time Slot, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter. Not sure what the release timetable is like but keep an eye on the ActionBox Films website.
Come back for more art soon!
Hey everyone! Hope your holiday seasons are lovely. The above images are some concept art I did for a webseries currently seeking funding on Kickstarter called The Adventures of Time Slot. You should totally send them a few bucks if you can!
In other news, very busy drawing Titanium Star and Monstersitter, and of course with the day job making them big Hollywood pictures. Never enough hours in the day! Back to work!!
Hey everyone, I’ve been drawing more comics for the talented folks over at The Gathering. These are sneak peeks and I’ll be sure to announce when things are on sale! Been very busy lately with comics, day job and class, but in the good way. Gotta keep that pencil moving!
